Masjid Al-Falah USJ 9 goes Digital with Homegrown E-Wallet Boost and RHB Islamic

Masjid Al-Falah USJ 9 goes Digital with Homegrown E-Wallet Boost and RHB Islamic. Subang Jaya, 8 June – Earlier this month, Masjid Al-Falah USJ 9 achieved a milestone as the first mosque to start going digital with accepting donations. This milestone was made possible under RHB’s Kempen SyuQR – an initiative to bring a digital lifestyle to the concept of ‘Giving’ and/or ‘Sadaqah’ – through Boost, a homegrown e-wallet app operated by Axiata Digital.

“This is RHB Islamic’s first collaborative effort with Axiata Digital to start digital sadaqah (donation) in conjunction with Ramadhan. RHB Islamic is honoured to be a partner in this effort to reach out to the underprivileged by encouraging Muslims to make digital donations towards Kempen SyuQR.,” said Dato’ Adissadikin Ali, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, RHB Islamic Bank Berhad.

Boost provides a platform where donations are made via the simple step of scanning the QR code displayed at the mosque. All donations will then be transferred directly to Masjid Al-Falah’s RHB Bank account avoiding the risk of loose cash and theft.

Christopher Tiffin, CEO of Boost said, “When we stepped into this collaboration with RHB Islamic, we had one goal - to make it easier for users to give back to and share their generosity with the society. More importantly, these contributions are done via a social institution”.

“Malaysia has 20 million smartphone users and there is plenty of room for growth in embracing the usage of e-wallets. We have confidence that this collaboration would serve as a great example to drive a cashless society and that many other social institutions will follow suit and adopt the cashless movement with us”, commented Tiffin.

In attendance to kick off this campaign were Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin, Chairman of Masjid Al-Falah USJ 9, Dato’ Adissadikin Ali, Managing Director and CEO of RHB Islamic, Khairil Abdullah, CEO of Axiata Digital Services Sdn Bhd and Christopher Tiffin, CEO of Boost. They were given a warm welcome by the Qariah and had the opportunity to experience a truly Malaysian and Islamic way of the Iftar with the community around Subang Jaya.

Boost and RHB Islamic’s new digital and cashless initiative at Masjid Al-Falah is inline with Bank Negara’s Financial Sector Blueprint and is a contribution towards the country’s goal of becoming a cashless nation by 2050.

About Boost

Boost is a mobile lifestyle wallet that aims to revolutionise the way consumers transact on a daily basis. Combining lifestyle needs and cutting edge digital technology, Boost strives to make transactions easier, faster, more secure & overall a more rewarding experience for consumers.

Boost officially launched in January 2017, as a platform that digitised one of the telco’s core services - the way prepaid users top up their mobile credit. With Boost, users begin their journey by adding money into the app via credit card, debit card, or any of our 17 online banking partners. Next, they select the desired amount of prepaid top up & it’s done. It’s really that easy! All prepaid users regardless of network can top up their mobile credit anytime, anywhere, within seconds.  No more visits to the stores and keying in the 16-digit pin. Prepaid users also get to enjoy a cashback! Just shake the phone (literally) to get the cash back. This rewarding experience sets Boost apart from any other mobile prepaid top up app.

These vouchers can also be sent as gifts to friends & family with personalised wrappers & messages.

You can pay with Boost at more than 12,000 locations nationwide like at the “pasar malam”, food courts and food trucks, online shopping and branded retailers. In addition, Boost users can send money to one another without paying for interbank charges and this is regardless of their mobile networks. Our mission is to encourage Malaysians to go cashless, and we aim to achieve this by making Boost the preferred lifestyle e-wallet in Malaysia.
